BlueAir
BlueAir is a Swedish company that prides itself on providing consumers with the best indoor air quality possible, while keeping its products small enough to be portable and silent enough for any room in the house. Their corporate headquarters may be in Sweden, but their products are manufactured in the USA.
Features
HEPASilent
BlueAir 603 is equipped with BlueAir’s HEPASilent technology, which means that it can clean up to 99.97% of contaminants in the air while keeping the noise below 70 decibels (for reference, the average sound from cars on the street is around 70 decibels). HEPASilent technology capitalizes on regular HEPA technology by using a small ionizer to attract pollutants and trap them more efficiently in the filter. With this ionizer in place, the BlueAir 603 is able to trap particles as small as 0.1 microns in size, as opposed to the 0.3 microns that a True HEPA filter can capture.
SurroundAir
With its SurroundAir system, the BlueAir 603 is able to reduce draft and take in air through an area six times greater than the average air purifier. What this means is that, rather than blow filtered air through a single vent, BlueAir 603 takes in air through the sides and bottom and diffuses cleaned air through the sides and top.
Electronic Filter Timer
All BlueAir air purifiers come equipped with an electronic filter timer to remind you when you need to change your filters. For those enrolled in BlueAir’s Filter Subscription Program, the filter timer provides the customer peace of mind by letting them know when they’ll be receiving their new filter.
Energy Efficiency
BlueAir makes appliances that will work well without sending your electric bill through the roof, and the BlueAir 603 is no exception. On high, running day and night, this unit only uses 95 watts.
Clean Air Delivery Rate
The BlueAir 603 has the best Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) on the market, capable of filtering up to 450 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM/CPM) at a rate of 5 air changes per hour. The Clean Air Delivery Rate is measured by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, which is an independent association that provides ratings for air purifiers. The higher the number, the better the filter.
Warranty
The BlueAir 603 comes with a long-life guarantee and a ten year limited warranty. In order to make sure you get your warranty, you must fill out and return your registration information, and you must use original BlueAir filters to replace your used filters once every six months.
Filters
We were surprised to see that BlueAir replacement filters are very affordable. This great news in a premium machine. You can read more about the various filters from BlueAir in this article that covers their entire product line.
Suitable Applications
This unit has an Area Coverage of almost 700 square feet, making it perfect to use in a large living room or in an open first floor, where it can filter the air in multiple rooms at once. Because of its large Area Coverage, the BlueAir 603 is also suitable for apartment living, where just one appliance could clean the air in your whole home.
While the BlueAir 603 is the best available to clean the air in your home of dust, allergens, and common air pollutants, with just a small amount of activated carbon added to the rear of the HEPASilent filters, it will not do a very good job of cleaning your serious household odors, smoke, or harsh chemicals. If you’re looking for a serious odor-reducing air purifier, this may not be the best for you.
