It’s difficult to find the right air purifier, even if you know exactly what features you need. Many air purifiers use HEPA filters, multiple-stage filtration, and ionizers. The power and range of an air purifier is also important to note. A cheaper air purifier designed for small rooms will not be able to handle large, open living spaces. Before making any decisions, know the size of the room(s) in which you wish to use the air purifier.
We’ve reviewed the Honeywell 16200 Tabletop Air Purifier to see if it’s worth the price. Continue below to see an overview of the product’s primary features, our condensed list of pros and cons, and our final thoughts on the value of the Honeywell 16200.
Honeywell 16200 Tabletop Air Purifier Product Review
Filter
The Honeywell 16200 features a HEPA filter that reduces airborne particles by 99.97%. It can filter allergens and pollutants, including dander, pollen, mold, smoke, and dust .3 microns or larger.
Although the HEPA filter must be replaced approximately twice a year, a washable pre-filter helps keep out larger particles and prolong the life of each HEPA filter. You never have to guess about the lifespan of a filter, either. An electronic filter light will alert you when it’s time for a replacement.
While your filter cleans your air, Protec antimicrobial treatment helps keep your filter from becoming a nursery for mold and bacteria.
Ionizer
Unlike most other air purifiers, the Honeywell 16200 has an ionizer that can be turned on or off at will. If you want to save a little on electric, simply turn the ionizer off. When allergy season hits and you need that extra layer of defense, simply flip the switch and turn it back on again.
Odor-Lock Filter
This carbon filter provides an extra boost for clean air. Even if the vast majority of allergens and pollutants are out of the air, it’s nice if the smells that go with them don’t come back. The Odor-Lock filter keeps the smell of your cats’ litter box and the lingering scent of tobacco smoke locked away.
Design
As the name suggests, this air purifier has been specifically designed to sit on a table. Its shape minimizes the space it fills – both vertically and horizontally – allowing you to keep your air purifier where it can do the most good. It has dual positions to maximize that design, so regardless of whether it needs to fit under a low-hanging lamp or squeeze into a tight corner, it will go where you need it. This is a serious advantage over a floor-based air purifier. After all, it’s nice if your floor-based air purifier keeps the carpet breathing, but if it isn’t powerful enough to circulate the filtered air through the room, then your carpet will suffer from fewer allergens than you do.
Coverage
This air purifier can handle 80 square feet or less. What’s more, those 80 square feet must be in a closed room. The manufacturer recommends using it for small rooms, such as a bedroom or office, and this product simply is not designed to handle even a medium-sized living area. Its design as a tabletop air purifier works to its advantage, however, as it can easily fit on a nightstand or an office desk. Those looking to target particular areas could make good use of the Honeywell 16200, but the product is unsuited for those looking to purchase an air purifier for living areas.
Warranty
Each air purifier comes with a 3-year limited warranty. Buyers need to register their products online or by mail within seven days of purchase. The warranty does not cover replaceable filters, which is expected, but the manufacturer will repair or replace a defective air purifier during the time of coverage.

Final Thoughts
The Honeywell 16200 Tabletop Air Purifier has a lot of promise but some pretty serious drawbacks. It has a good filtration system that seems consciously arranged for efficiency, and its size and shape really do make it great for tables, nightstands, and desks.
The machine doesn’t exactly roar, but it is far from quiet, and the manufacturer doesn’t pretend it is. This rules out the bedroom, especially when you think about putting it on a nightstand directly next to a sleeping individual’s head. Although there are plenty of people who use white noise to sleep, this air purifier would not do well in children’s bedrooms or on the nightstand of anyone who sleeps best in a quiet room.
Really, Honeywell designed the 16200 for rooms like an office or laundry room. For those who suffer from allergies and find noise to be a lesser distraction than sneezing, this could make a great office purifier. If you plan to make calls from your office, however, the noise could once again create problems. Since odor blocking technology is such a selling point, this machine might do well in the room where you keep your cat’s litter box or your dog’s bed.
The Honeywell 16200 Tabletop Air Purifier seems like a good machine. Yet, there doesn’t seem to be a good place to use it, so we say pass.
